About Us

Chandra and Tony wanted to bring northern Ontario a specialty running store for the small communities of serious and recreational runners and fitness enthusiasts who usually have to travel to get quality gear, so they opened The Running Link in October 2005.

Staff Profiles

Chandra Juurlink

Chandra is a Registered Massage Therapist and specializes in Sports Injury Therapy and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Guelph. Prior to The Running Link, she has worked part time in the retail industry for over 11 years, 3 of which were in a running specialty store.  She brings to the store experience in analyzing gait and foot type to properly fit shoes and can help give advice on how to treat and prevent running injuries.  She is an avid runner who has accomplished many personal running goals in a variety of 5-42km races. She has also opened a Massage Therapy and Sports Injury clinic called Your Link To Health (inside The Running Link).

Tony Juurlink

Tony is a grade 7/8 teacher at Englehart Public School. He has an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Education degree specializing in physical education and geography from Nippissing University. He brings to the store, a strong background in athletics and a passion for teaching. He is happy to finally be able to put his kinesiology degree to good use analyzing gait/foot type to properly fit shoes.

Keith Kerr

Keith is a high school student at Temiskaming District Secondary School and has worked at the store since July 2007. He has a multisport background including volleyball, cross country, squash, basketball and badminton.

Patricia Foreman

Patricia is new to the Temiskaming area and began working at the store in April 2008. She is very involved at the gym and has participated in the store's Nordic Walk and Learn to Run Clinics which has increased her knowledge and interest in the sport.

Deanna Caldwell

Deanna is a student at Temiskaming District Secondary School and began working at the store in April 2007. She is involved with many different teams including cross-country running and skiing, volleyball, curling, badminton, soccer and track. Deanna has competed provincially in cross country running, track and field, curling and volleyball.

Sarah Hall

Sarah is a high school student at Temiskaming District Secondary School and began working at the store in July 2009.  She enjoys playing basketball and participating in track and field in events such as hurdles, high jump and triple jump.

Sarah Olson

Sarah began working at the store in September 2009.  She has completed a course in physical fitness theory and is currently completing a course in nutrition.  She enjoys biking, snowshoeing, nordic skiing, aerobics and strength training.  She is also proud of overcoming her fear of running as an asthmatic and has helped lead our Learn to Run clinics.

Len Lear 

Len is the head coach of the New Liskeard Loons Swim Team and began working at the store in September 2009.  He has been a swimmer and runner in past years, with accomplishments including marathons in Niagara, Philidelphia and Detroit and many road races in North America and Sweden.  He is currently rehabilitating from tendinitis but hopes to have a future goal of completing a triathlon or ultra marathon.
